Definitely worth a watch for Evangelion fans and newcomers to the franchise. I have always felt that the concept for Evangelion is a combination of Ultraman, Gundam, a high school drama with pop psychology thrown into the mix.
This new iteration of the Evangelion franchise basically retains changes the chronology of the original Evangelion anime to improve both the pacing and the overall thematic consistency. The animation technics of many scenes have also been updated.
Friends whom i watched it with whom did not watch the original enjoyed it as well. So for those who missed the original anime, do consider watching this series of movies (it's gonna be a quadrology), you won't be disappointed. The Evangelion series has been a pivotal and influential piece of animation in Japanese anime, and after watching it again, it is not difficult to see why.
I rate this movie: A-
